Norco Coupon Details

Norco is one of several brand names of a combination drug containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Other common brand names include Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet, Xodol, Hycet, Zamicet, and Zydone. It is prescribed for either the relief of moderate to severe pain or the relief of cough and pain. Acetaminophen is a common over-the-counter analgesic used to treat mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation. Hydrocodone is an opiate derivative, also called a narcotic medication. It relieves pain by changing how the brain responds to the signal sent from the nerves that cause the sensations of pain. It also decreases the activity in the part of the brain responsible for coughing.

How it is Used
Norco is available in tablet form in three different dosages: 5 mg hydrocodone/325 mg acetaminophen, 7.5 mg/325 mg, and 10 mg/325 mg. It should be taken every 4 to 6 hours, but only as needed. If prescribed to take it daily for extended periods of time, it should be taken around the same times every day. It can be taken on an empty or full stomach, depending on how the patient experiences any possible accompanying nausea.

Precautions
Several precautions should be taken before starting treatment with Norco:
• Doctors should be advised of known allergies to narcotic medications
• Doctors should be advised of all other medications being taken, especially other pain killers or analgesics, antidepressants, antipsychotic medications, antihistamines, IBS medications, seizure medications, MAO inhibitors, sedatives, tranquilizers, or sleeping medications.
• Doctors should be notified of recent surgeries, past or present lung disease, enlarged prostate, glaucoma, thyroid disease, liver disease, or kidney disease.
• Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should discuss taking Norco with their doctor.
• The drug may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if intoxication occurs.
• Avoid alcoholic beverages.
• Never take more than the prescribed dose. Overdoses of acetaminophen may cause liver failure and death. Overdoses of hydrocodone may cause respiratory failure.
• Hydrocodone may cause physical addiction. If you have taken Norco for extended periods of time, do not stop suddenly or withdrawal symptoms may manifest.
