Ultram Coupon Details

Ultram is one of several brand names of the generic drug Tramadol. Tramadol is an opiate agonist that is considered to be a semi-narcotic medication. It is prescribed in the treatment of moderate to moderately severe pain. It is most often prescribed for patients who are expected to need 24-hour relief from pain for several days or longer.

How it is Used
Ultram comes in two forms: a basic tablet form and an extended-release tablet. The basic tablet is taken every 4 to 6 hours with a full glass of water. The extended-release tablets are taken orally with water once per day. If taking the extended-release tablets, they should be taken at the same time every day, and it should always be taken either on an empty stomach each time or on a full stomach each time. They should be taken whole. Splitting, chewing, breaking or crushing the extended release tablets will cause them to release their full dose too soon, possibly causing an overdose.

Doctors sometimes prescribe Ultram in a low dose initially and increase the dose over the course of several days. Never take a higher dose than is prescribed by a doctor.
